The WTF approved Electronic Protectors, LaJUST Electronic Impact Detection and Scoring System (EIDSS), were being used for the first time at an international benchmark event and it was a huge success where controversies of manual scoring were greatly reduced.

As Head of the Australian Team, Grandmaster Joon No was very pleased with the success of the Australian regiment, as well as the use of LaJUST EIDSS.

"With the LaJUST EIDSS state of the art technology, the competitions results were fair and truly reflect the skills of the competitors. With their outstanding performances, it goes to show that Australia can outperform other countries. We have a number of promising young talents."

For the sparring competition, Australia won one Silver medal and four Bronze medals. Two of Grandmaster No's students also received the Outstanding Senior Male Athlete and Outstanding Junior Male Athlete Awards for their great performances.

All four competitors for the poomsae (formwork) competition won medals, with one Gold, one Silver and two Bronze. Grandmaster No gave the competitors some last minute coaching and was impressed by their fast learning capabilities. Grandmaster No was actually one of the International Poomsae Referees judging the competition.

At the championships, he was elected as the Commonwealth Union Poomsae Chairman for two years and will be organising next year's poomsae competition in India.

With such remarkable achievements at the Commonwealth Championships, the Australian Taekwondo Team is looking to more successes at future competitions.
