JANELLE and Jasmine hocking are two Bendigo sisters you don't want to mess with. Their innocent looks belie two taekwondo black belts preparing to represent australia next month in the Asian Junior Championships in Malaysia.

The girls head to the Asian nation on June 28 as part of a squad of 11 players from the renowned Joon No's Taekwondo school in Melbourne.

Joon No is famous in Australia for having trained 2000 Sydney Olympic taekwondo gold medalist Lauren Burns.

At just 12, Jasmine is the youngest in the team.

"I'm excited about being able to compete overseas and represent Australia," the Grade 6 Kennington Primary School student said yesterday.

With a constant smile on her face and a fierce desire to succeed when competing, Jasmine has been aptly described as the 'smiling assassin'.

She began competing at age eight, and has since won eight gold, five silver and three bronze medals in more than 20 competitions.

Her elder sister Janelle, 14, has a similarly impressive record and has won two bronze medals at national tournaments since stepping up to the older 14-17 age group.

"I'm excited and nervous about going to Malaysia," said Janelle, who is in Year 8 at Flora Hill Secondary College.

"Obviously I would love to win gold, but I am mainly looking forward to the experience.

"I've never been overseas, so that's exciting, and I'm hoping to go to the Olympics in 2012 (in London)."

Both girls are in heavy training leading up to their trip.

They travel to Melbourne three nights a week for a three-hour training session, and often don't arrive home until after midnight.

They are also looking for sponsorship to help cover the cost of their overseas adventure.
