TAEKWONDO champ Jerome Tseitlin is getting a kick out of doing well in his sport.
The 16-year-old multi-medal winner won another award at the Commonwealth Taekwondo Championships in Canada in November.
Jerome, an Elsternwick resident and a second dan black belt, won bronze for sparring in his welter-weight division. "There's room for improvement but I'm happy," he said.
His success comes after winning gold while representing Australia at the Malaysian Open in 2007.
Jerome is a member of Joon No's Taekwondo Club and trains six days a week. But he eases off before a competition so his body can recover.
"If you're training all the time your body gets depleted," he said.
Jerome, a University High School student, said the sport helped his confidence and discipline.
He hopes to win the National Championships this year and compete in the 2010 Youth Olympic Games in Singapore.
Jerome said he'd like to thank his coach Joon No, who had worked with him since he was five.
Jerome is this week's junior Leader Sports Star nominee.
